Systemic fair access violations found in Ontario auto insurance: regulator

TORONTO — Ontario auto insurers have been involved in intentional, industry-wide violations of rules around fair access to coverage, the sector’s regulator said Thursday.The Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) says in a report that it uncovered practices that made it harder for certain types of consumers — those who had prior claims, who weren’t also buying property coverage, who lived in some municipalities, and who had less than a year of previous auto insurance coverage in Canada — to get insurance quotes.It found insurers at times slowed quotes, refused to offer coverage for those who met their approved underwriting rules, or simply didn’t respond to consumers.“Insurers chose to engage in non-transparent and illegal practices that made it more difficult for certain types of consumers to get auto insurance quotes,” it said in the report.The FSRA says the practices led to “consumer harms, unfair competition, and diminished ...Union vote begins on B.C. port deal that could end months-long dispute

LANSING, Ill. — A man was shot and killed at a gas station in Lansing Thursday morning.The shooting happened around 4:39 a.m. at the QuikTrip gas station near the intersection of 173rd and Torrence.According to police, it appears an attempted robbery of a customer led to several shots fired at the gas station.When officers arrived to the scene, they found a man, in his 50s, fatally shot. At this time, police cannot confirm how many people fired shots. CHICAGO — A popular cookie restaurant is going to be opening in the vicinity of Wrigley Field, but fans of it are going to have to wait a bit. Crumbl Cookies has already put up signage for their newest Chicago location at 1111 W. Addison Street in the same building as the Taco Bell Cantina, Movement Gym, and Chase bank that's located a half-block from the ballpark. But if you're hoping to have some of the cookies before or after games during the 2023 season, you are out of luck. According to Crumbl, the location located just outside of Wrigley Field will not be opening until the spring of 2024, which could be in time for the start of the next Cubs' season.
