ST. LOUIS - Dancers from Central Visual and Performing Arts High School return to the stage for the first time since the shooting that killed two of their own in a performance called "In our hearts."Seven months ago, the stage went dark after tragedy struck the school. However, now the dancers are back doing what they do best."It's emotional,” said Jayden Brown, a CVPA dance student. “That honestly, nobody is going to forget, so we have to use that and turn it into our arts here."Through jazz, tap, hip-hop, and a variety of dance routines, students continue the healing process."We're still going, we're still strong, and nothing can stop us,” said Mars Sander, a CVPA sophomore dance student. ST. LOUIS - Over the weekend, flooding slammed interstate highways and other major roads in the St. Louis area."When it comes in a lot fewer days and a lot smaller storms, you have these massive storms that hit, and there is just nothing that’s going to take that away," said Brian Hoelscher, executive director and CEO of the Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD). "That immediate area is going to flood. Everything is going to go underwater."Hoelscher explained the possible solutions to the flooding problem. Missouri AG: Gardner was at nursing school during contempt of court hearing "So there‘s two options, and they're different from each one. You either move the facilities out of or raise them above those problems or else, if possible, you can engineer or try to put larger capacity structures in," he said. "It’s going to cost a lot of money, whatever the solution happens to be. We’d put design storms in and say, that’s how much we’re willing to pay for a certain level of protection; cl...Fauci talks pandemic, controversies prior to Washington University commencement speech

Brenton Doyle has been more than ready for his big-league close-up. The rookie center fielder proved it again Monday night in the Rockies’ 9-8 win over Cincinnati at Coors Field.Doyle hit two home runs and a double and made a sensational sliding catch, turning the game into his personal highlight reel. For the record, it was second baseman Harold Castro who gave Colorado an 8-6 lead in the seventh with a two-run double into the right-field corner off right-hander Lucas Sims. Castro drove in Ryan McMahon, who led off with an infield hit, and Randal Grichuk, who drew a two-out walk off Sims. But it’s the speedy, athletic and ultra-confident Doyle who’s become the story of the season for the Rockies, who improved to 9-4 in May.The Reds scored a run off of closer Pierce Johnson in a tense ninth inning but he hung on to record his seventh save in seven chances.Doyle opened his performance with a two-out double to left in Colorado’s four-run second inning. St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner, a reform-minded prosecutor who was first elected in 2016 and again by an overwhelming majority in 2020, announced Thursday that she would resign following threats from the Missouri state legislature to pass a bill stripping her office of power.Missouri Republicans ramped up efforts this week to advance the bill, which would allow the governor to appoint a special prosecutor in any jurisdiction to handle cases said to include a “threat to public safety.”Dozens of similar preemption bills filed in recent years target reform-minded prosecutors across the country. At least 17 states have tried to pass similar measures since 2017, soon after reform prosecutors started winning elections.“This is not unique to Kim Gardner,” said Jill Habig, founder and president of the Public Rights Project, a civil rights nonprofit that has tracked the growing number of preemption bills. “What we’re seeing across the country is state-level overreach and resistance t...Latest news
