Published Mon, 24 Feb 2025 10:49:08 GMT

JONESTOWN, Texas (KXAN) -- With a breathtaking view overlooking Lake Travis, a new home being built in Jonestown is drawing some attention from neighbors. The nearly 7,500 square foot has zero wood, brick, or insulation. It is completely made of foam. "I think the neighbors might have thought I was crazy when they saw the truckloads of foam pull up," Aaron Rowsell, the homeowner of the three-story house in Jonestown, explained. Rowsell, a former contractor himself, first heard of homes being built with foam about 20 years ago. He said if he ever was going to build his dream home, foam was the material he wanted to use. Strata International Group Inc. is the Phoenix-based company that developed this groundbreaking building technique. It is known as SABS, or Saebi Alternative Building System, named after its creator Dr. Nasser Saebi. How does it work? The company creates large blocks of foam, which are made up of 98% air, that can be shaped and glued together to create the skeleton of...

By DAVID BRUNAT and GRAHAM DUNBAR (Associated Press)MADRID (AP) — Moments after Spain won the Women’s World Cup, the man who leads the country’s national soccer federation took some unwanted attention away from the celebrating players.Criticism from the Spanish government and the soccer world rained down Monday on Luis Rubiales for his inappropriate conduct while reveling in Spain’s 1-0 win over England in Sunday’s final in Sydney, Australia.By grabbing his crotch in a victory gesture — seemingly oblivious to 16-year-old Princess Infanta Sofía standing nearby — and then kissing Spain player Jenni Hermoso on the lips during the medal and trophy ceremony on the field, Rubiales’s behavior marred the biggest day for women’s soccer. The kiss was “deeply lamentable,” world players’ union FIFPRO said. The Wagner Mutiny and What It Means for China

Published Mon, 24 Feb 2025 10:49:08 GMT

The recent mutiny of the mercenary Wagner Group in Russia concluded abruptly in less than two days. Through the intervention of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, the military personnel of the Wagner Group ceased their advance towards Moscow and retreated to their bases. Media reported that Lukashenko successfully obtained assurances from the Russian government regarding the safety of Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin, and that Prigozhin and his private armed forces will be deployed to Belarus and stationed there - writes Mr. Kung Chan, founder of ANBOUND.Although the immediate crisis has been resolved, the repercussions of this event will have long-lasting consequences.First of all, the prospect of reconciliation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prigozhin is highly improbable. During a crucial phase of the war in Ukraine, Prigozhin's rebellion not only posed a threat to Russia but also caused humiliation to Putin. Such incidents are utterly unacceptable to t...

Lately it’s been The Hurting, the debut album of Tears For Fears. It’s a weird record. A commercial success despite its dark themes and, in the singles, lacking what I think of as real pop choruses. Roland Orzabal decided to make Tears For Fears’ debut pop album aboutprimal scream and repressed memory therapy. Very intense and controversial stuff.  It’s a record about trying and failing to deal with deep psychological trauma, all wrapped up into this edgy but polished pop facade.Several of the ...
