Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo.Burhan’s letter to U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was received Friday.“The Secretary-General is shocked by the letter he received this morning,” U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said. “The Secretary-General is proud of the work done by Volker Perthes and reaffirms his full confidence in his Special Representative.”Dujarric didn’t reveal the c...Hamilton police negotiating with barricaded man suspected in double homicide

AUSTIN (Nexstar) — The historic vote in the Texas House to impeach Ken Paxton is adding to the intensity of the final days of the legislative session. House members spent nearly four hours Saturday considering the impeachment resolution, before voting to approve the measure. It's the first time in Texas history that lawmakers took up, let alone passed, a resolution to impeach a sitting Attorney General.Paxton is a Republican. So is State Rep. Andrew Murr, R - Junction, who leads the House General Investigating Committee that recommended the articles of impeachment. The idea of Republicans potentially ousting a top leader from their own party surprised some Texans. But the vote comes amid a session of infighting among Republicans at the Capitol. Party members have been divided over priority issues like school choice legislation, even property tax relief. While most Republicans in the House voted in favor of the resolution to impeach Paxton, some of the chamber's most conservative mem...Mixed emotions after Paxton impeachment vote

Kathie Glass was among those that answered Paxton's call to show up at the Capitol for the vote. She echoed similar sentiments Paxton has made since the impeachment announcement."One could call it a coup. They're taking over, they're trying to change the outcome of an election. They're trying to disenfranchise voters like me, who voted for compassion just four months ago," Glass said. Those in favor of impeaching Paxton also attended the weekend vote. Minnesota United manager Adrian Heath expressed this week what it feels like to play against Real Salt Lake.“It’s like having a toothache,” he said Thursday. “They never go away. They hang about.”The Loons and RSL played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night at Allianz Field. RSL stayed pesky, but it’s MNUFC’s home form that can feel like a deepening root canal. The Loons (5-5-4, 19 points) have one win in seven home games this season. Salt Lake (4-6-4, 16 points) is 5-3-6 against MNUFC all time in MLS and stayed near them in the current Western Conference standings. The Loons had trouble breaking down Salt Lake’s 4-4-2 defensive shape, and Minnesota relied on getting the ball wide and sending in 13 crosses in the first half and 20 in the match. The Loons had a few brief moments going through RSL’s defense with Franco Fragapane finding Bongi Hlongwane and Sang Bin Jeong. But in a season-long theme, the final product wasn’t good enough.Minnesota’s defensive lock was deftly picked ...Busload of migrants from NYC to arrive in Capital Region

(KTXL) — A group of demonstrators in favor of Medicare for all Californians pressed Governor Gavin Newsom on a campaign promise as he spoke briefly at the California Democratic Convention Saturday. After an introduction from his wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Gov. Newsom took the stage on the second full day of his party's state convention in Los Angeles for a roughly five-minute speech during which he struck out at Republican leaders in red states. However, as the initial applause quieted, some in the crowd held up banners saying "Love it! Improve it! Medicare for all!" and chanted continuously throughout the governor's speech.During his initial campaign for governor, Newsom voiced support for a single-payer healthcare system but has since backed more incremental change, including last year's expansion of the state's Medi-Cal plan to residents over 50 regardless of immigration status.
