Published Mon, 24 Feb 2025 00:33:40 GMT

The 49ers did not record another blowout victory, but they were in control throughout their 28-16 win over the Seahawks on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium, their second win over Seattle in three weeks. The victory all but clinches the NFC West for San Francisco, which is now four games ahead of Seattle and the Los Angeles Rams in the division. A loss by the Packers on Monday night would guarantee a playoff spot for the 49ers with a month left in the regular season.Brock Purdy completed 19-of-27 passes for 368 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Deebo Samuel had seven catches for 149 yards and a score, also finding the end zone on a 1-yard rush while Brandon Aiyuk had 126 yards on six receptions.Christian McCaffrey ran 16 times for 145 yards, including a 72-yarder on the first snap of the game, but finished without a touchdown for just the second time since joining the 49ers last October. Here’s what the Niners had to say after the win:San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyl...

Our Bombshell on India’s Assassination Program — and the Story Behind the Green New Deal

The bizarre right-wing distortion campaign around my book relied heavily on the climate parts of it, so we figured we’d just publish that and let people read it. Perhaps stung a bit by my criticism (ha), Fox News has since published another story based on my book that is shockingly faithful to the actual reporting in the book itself. Here is Fox’s writeup of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s first interaction with the Democratic Party’s hesitant, turtle-in-its-shell approach to abortion politics. No complaints on that one.If you’ve already gotten the book, please leave a review on Goodreads or Amazon or whatever independent platform you normally do that sort of thing. Falcons lose another tight one, show no signs of breaking free from frustrating pattern

ATLANTA (AP) — The final play summed up the entire day for the Atlanta Falcons. Really, the entire season. With one last chance to pull out a victory that had been snatched away in the final minute, Desmond Ridder saw Drake London breaking loose over the middle and delivered a pass right on the numbers.Only one problem.London was engulfed by Tampa Bay defenders, who smothered him 3 yards shy of the end zone as time ran out to preserve the Buccaneers’ 29-25 victory on Sunday.“We should’ve come out of there with the win,” Ridder said, “but obviously we didn’t.”The Falcons came in with a .500 record that was good enough to lead the NFC South. With a chance to take firmer control of the division race, Atlanta let it slip away. Ridder threw for a career-best 347 yards, but also had two crucial first-half turnovers that led to nine points for Tampa Bay.Now, there’s a three-way tie atop the league’s weakest division, with the Falcons, Buccaneers and New Orleans...

Chiefs have 49-yard go-ahead TD called back by penalty, fall 20-17 to Buffalo

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs thought they had beaten the Buffalo Bills with one of the most unexpected and audacious of plays Sunday. Then the roar inside Arrowhead Stadium was silenced, replaced instead by a cascade of boos. The Bills had just taken the lead on Tyler Bass’s field goal with 1:54 to go when Patrick Mahomes marched the Chiefs across midfield. He dropped back, spotted favorite target Travis Kelce across the middle, hit him between the numbers — then watched the ex-high school quarterback throw across the field to Kadarius Toney, who finished off the 49-yard touchdown catch.Except there was a flag on the play. Toney had lined up offside. The play came back, Mahomes proceeded to throw incomplete on three straight plays, and the Bills, in desperate need of a win, escaped with a 20-17 victory.Meanwhile, it was another brutal loss for the Chiefs (8-5), who have lost four of their past six. And an especially tough way for Toney to end his night; he also...
